The Human Rights Orchestra Performed at Teatro La Fenice
15 July 2022
As a collateral event of the conference, “The Global State of Human Rights”, organized by the European Parliament and the Global Campus of Human Rights, the Human Rights Orchestra has been invited to perform in Venice’s Teatro La Fenice on 15 July 2022. The concert also celebrates the publication of The Routledge Companion to Music and Human Rights, a collection of case studies spanning a wide range of concerns about music and human rights in response to intensifying challenges to the well-being of individuals, peoples, and the planet.
The concert features Vietnamese singer/songwriter Mai Khôi, Tunisian oud player Ziad Trabelsi, and French hornist Alessio Allegrini, who also conducts the Human Rights Orchestra in a program including works by Mendelssohn, Elgar, Debussy, and Beethoven.
