For the very first time, the 7th International Human Rights Forum Lucerne (IHRF) will be concluded on Wednesday evening, May 19th 2010 by the IHRF Concert Classic at the Culture and Convention Center Lucerne (KKL). The benefit concert’s goal is to enhance public awareness of human rights and support concrete human rights projects. The concert is with the exceptional Portuguese pianist Maria João Pires and the Human Rights Orchestra, conducted by his founder and leader, Alessio Allegrini.
The proceeds of the benefit will be donated to “Afri Afya”. Afri Afya is a consortium of health NGOs which further ways of harnessing information and communication technology (ICTs) for community health and development in rural and marginalized communities of countries such as Kenya and Somalia. Afri Afya’s goal is to prevent mortal diseases such as AIDS, malaria and measles.
The 7th International Human Rights Forum Lucerne (IHRF) will start on May 18th, and will discuss in the public the topic “Human Rights and Pervasive Computing“. The 7th IHRF takes place in the Swiss Museum of Transport, Lucerne. Among others, Nobel Prize Laureate Shirin Ebadi, Matthias Kaiserswerth (Director of the IBM Research Laboratory Zurich), Niraj Nathwani (European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights, Union FRA), Felisa Tibbitts (Director and Co-Founder of Human Rights Education Associates HREA) and Hanspeter Thür (Swiss Federal Data Protection Commissioner) have already confirmed their active participation.
