Fermo (Italy), May 5, 2010
The Province of Fermo, with the cooperation of the “Amici della Musica” Association of Montegranaro, the “Fermo Cassa di Risparmio Foundation”, the Comune and Chamber of Commerce of Fermo, is organizing a concert with musicians from the Human Rights Orchestra on May 5, 2010, at the Teatro dell’Aquila at Fermo.
The goal of this initiative is to draw attention to the Human Rights violations even in coutries where the Charter of the United Nations seems to be respected and applied. The chosen means is the language of music, which, thanks to its ability of “speaking without words”, is able to convey the message beyond cultural differences.
Participating in this concert is not free of charge, a ticket costing €15 will be required, with the proceeds of the performance going to AfriAfya (African Network for Health Knowledge Management and Communication), a non-profit NGO founded in April 2000, to promote medical progress through the latest communication technologies in Kenya’s and Somalia’s rural areas.
The event will be sponsored by the “President of the Italian Republic” and of the “Comune di Fermo”.
The concert will be connected with the “VII International Forum on Human Rights IHRF Lucerne, 2010“, which will take place at the Kultur Kongress (KKL) of Lucerne on May 19, 2010
